I am a first-year PhD Musicology and Gender and Women’s Studies student at McGill University, Canada. My dissertation project investigates music and dance culture in Montréal’s Gay Village (1980–95).
My master’s thesis is about André Mathieu, the “Little Canadian Mozart,” and his curious reception history within the Quebecois performance canon. My thesis, entitled “Performing Québécois Nationalism: The Reception and Revival of André Mathieu,” was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
I also work as a freelance music journalist in Montreal.
